Swoon Gelato

With family roots in the gelato craft dating back over 120 years, owners Pat and Bruno can guarantee an authentic taste of Italy at their newest gelateria in Kingsmead Square. Be warned, as you approach their elegantly designed, pint sized cafe, prepare for a very difficult decision indeed... Choosing between the assortment of soft gelati and sorbeti in a selection of eye catching colours can be tricky. Thankfully, the friendly staff are on hand with combination recommendations and an unlimited supply of sample spoons to help you choose between the irresistible flavours. Using local dairies for the freshest tasting gelato, their flavours and toppings have been hand picked from the heart of Italy. Why not treat yourself to a large waffle cone and try a few flavours? From Sicilian pistachios to amarena cherries, gelato typically contains 50% less fat than traditional ice cream. The creamy soft texture is created through a slow churning process, whipping up the ingredients into the pillowy clouds of delicious gelato. Having studied at the Carpigiani Gelato University in Bologna, owner Bruno has the passion, the tradition and the qualifications to know exactly what true gelato should taste like. Take a stroll through the pretty cobbled streets of Kingsmead Square with a cone of the very best gelato and transport yourself to an Italian piazza.
