Landrace Bakery

Landrace is a small, independent bakery and flour mill in Bath that’s quietly reshaping how we think about bread. Founded by Andrew Lowkes, the bakery is deeply rooted in the belief that good food starts with good farming. They work directly with local growers to source heritage grains, which are stone-milled at their own mill near Evercreech, Somerset. This hands-on approach ensures that every loaf, pastry, and bun reflects the integrity of the land and the people who tend it. From the crackling crust of a country sourdough to the soft, spiced sweetness of a cardamom bun, Landrace’s offerings are a celebration of craftsmanship and care. But Landrace is more than just a bakery—it’s a community hub built on connection. Their approach is refreshingly honest: no shortcuts, no gimmicks, just real food made by real people. Whether you’re picking up a loaf for the week or pausing for a coffee and pastry, there’s a sense that everything here has been made with purpose. It’s not about chasing trends—it’s about returning to something simpler, more nourishing, and more human.

We believe that bread should tell the story of where it comes from. By working closely with farmers and milling our own grains, we’re reconnecting people to the land—one loaf at a time.
