The Wheatsheaf Combehay

Nestled in the idyllic village of Combe Hay, just outside Bath, The Wheatsheaf is a 16th-century coaching inn brought thoughtfully back to life. With a deep respect for its roots, this independently run pub offers a relaxed but refined experience, where the focus is on seasonal ingredients, simple flavours, and a warm welcome. Whether you’re dropping in for a Sunday roast by the fire or enjoying a long summer lunch in the garden, The Wheatsheaf makes you feel like you’ve found a local secret. At the heart of it all is James, the landlord, whose vision is shaped by time spent in hospitality across London and the world. Together with his team, he’s created a space that’s not trying too hard—just doing things properly. Expect a menu that evolves with the seasons, a wine list that’s unpretentious but considered, and a countryside setting that’s hard to beat.

We just want to cook great food, pour great wine, and give people the kind of pub experience we’d want ourselves. Nothing more complicated than that
