About Christchurch

This historic town was founded in the 7th century and has many prominent landmarks displaying its wealth of history. From a picturesque medieval bridge to an 11th century church (once a monastery) and castles dating back as far as 1066. Smugglers made this one of the most lucrative towns to live in back in the 18th century and you find yourself looking out from the harbour imagining them to up to mischiefs. Christchurch is the most easterly coastal town of Dorset and with this, claims some of the most natural beauties; such as its nature reserve, situated where the rivers Avon and Stour converge, the town also boasts beautiful beaches and a quaint harbour. With over 1.5 million visitors to cater for each year, there is an abundance of high quality eateries and shops to spend a full day exploring.
